Watershed Sciences, Inc. collected Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data for Delivery 1 of the Clearwater National Forest, ID project on September 27th and 29th, 2010.
The AOIs were comprised of Laundry/China/Osier -17,614 acres, and Walde/Pete/King – 15,452 acres.
Data was processed by Watershed Sciences, Inc., and requested areas were expanded to include a 100m buffer to ensure complete coverage and adequate point densities around survey area boundaries resulting in a total of 35,081 acres. This metadata was created by the NGTOC using vendor-provided reports. Abstract Addendum, USGS National Geospatial Technical Operations Center (NGTOC), data edited March 2014: Data may have been modified from the original, delivered data by the NGTOC to correct issues such as breakline enforcement and hydro-flattening of water bodies, pits and spikes, and to remove edge tinning and other anomalies. To provide ancillary data for Clearwater Creek.
TerraScan was used to import Lidar points in blocks 500 MB or less. Ground points were classified for individual flight lines and tested for relative accuracy. Automated line-to-line calibrations were then performed for system attitude
parameters, and calibrations were performed on ground classified points from paired flight lines. Data were classified to ground and non-ground classes, then statistical absolute accuracy was assessed via direct
comparisons of ground classified points to ground RTK survey data. Data were converted to orthometric elevations (NAVD88) by applying a Geoid09 correction. Bare Earth models were created as a triangulated surface and exported as ArcInfo
ASCII grids at a 3–feet pixel resolution. Highest Hit models were created for any class at 3-feet grid spacing and exported as ArcInfo ASCII grids.
