Product: These lidar data are processed Classified LAS 1.4 files, formatted to 5,230 individual 5,000 US Feet x 5,000 US Feet tiles in NAD83 (HARN), StatePlane Indiana East FIPS 1301, NAVD88 Geoid12B US Feet; used to create unclassified swath LAS 1.4 files, used to create Classified LAS 1.4 files and subsequent data.
Geographic Extent: AOI is located in NE Indiana. The area of interest covers approximately 4,690 square miles. Dataset Description: Indiana Statewide Lidar 2017 B17 Base Option Lidar project called for the Planning, Acquisition, processing and derivative products of lidar data to be collected at a nominal pulse spacing (NPS) of 0.70 meter. Project specifications are based on the U.S. Geological Survey National Geospatial Program Base Lidar Specification, Version 1.2. The data was developed based on a horizontal projection/datum of NAD83 (HARN), StatePlane Indiana EastFIPS 1301, and vertical datum of NAVD88 (GEOID12B), US Feet. Lidar data was delivered as flightline-extent unclassified LAS swaths, as processed Classified LAS 1.4 files, formatted to 5,230 individual 5,000 US Feet x 5,000 US Feet tiles in NAD83 (HARN), StatePlane Indiana East FIPS 1301, US Feet as tiled Intensity Imagery, and as tiled bare earth DEMs; all tiled to the same 5,000 US Feet x 5,000 US Feet schema.
Ground Conditions: Lidar was collected in early 2017 by Woolpert, while no snow was on the ground and rivers were at or below normal levels. In order to post process the lidar data to meet task order specifications and meet ASPRS vertical accuracy guidelines, Woolpert established a total of 265 ground control points that were used to calibrate the lidar to known ground locations established throughout the project area. Additional independent accuracy checkpoints were collected (84 NVA points and 64 VVA points) and used to assess the vertical accuracy of the data. These checkpoints were not used to calibrate or post process the data.
<purpose>This project will support the state of Indiana and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Indiana.</purpose>

<procdesc>For each lift- Trajectory data was processed utilizing a tightly coupled GPS-IMU methodology with reference to the ground stations. Point cloud data was generated from the digitized waveforms collected by the Leica ALS80 HP 1000 kHz Multiple Pulses in Air (MPiA) lidar sensor when combined with the final trajectory in reference to NAD83 (HARN), StatePlane Indiana EastFIPS 1301, US Feet. Heights were reduced to orthometric values through the application of GEOID12B undulation values to approximate NAVD88 elevations. Fine misalignments in sensor configuration were solved for through a calibration process making use of inter-swath tie planes. Point cloud data was reviewed for coverage of project area and verification of collected density.</procdesc>
