Creation of this tile index file for the project is per USGS tm11-B4 version 1.2 to establish a single non-overlapping project tiling scheme.

Description:

Abstract:

The tile index is provided in the same coordinate reference system and units as the project data. The tile size is 5000 x 5000 feet; an integer multiple of the cell size (2 ft) of the DEM raster deliverables. The tiles are shall be indexed in x and y to an integer multiple of the x and y dimensions of the tile. The tile naming convention derives from the lower left coordinate value where the tile name is a concatenation of the first four digits of the easting and northing. The tiling scheme is topologically seamless without gaps or overlap.

Purpose:

The purpose of this project is to support activities throughout Santa Fe County, including but not limited to urban, community and regional planning; project and infrastructure planning; project reporting; floodplain mapping; stormwater management; vegetation analysis; change detection; and initial project reviews.

The non-overlapping project tiling scheme for USGS deliverable data was created using a regular 5000 x 5000 ft with tile coordinates set at whole integer coordinate values to provide for an even number of cells/pixels conforming to the tile boundary based upon the 2 ft resolution Digital Elevation Model (DEM). The tiling scheme overlaps the project extents.

1. Develop tile index. A full project-wide tile index was constructed on a 5000 x 5000 foot grid, indexed to whole integer coordinate values. Tile name attribution was derived from a concatenation of the first four digits of the lower left coordinate easting and northing (x, y).

2. Intersect with project extents. Tiles were intersected with project extents to trim away any excess tiles where 100% no data would be present in an excess tile. The final shapefile produced a total of 3627 tiles which correspond to the tiled data deliverables in the USGS tile index scheme.
