The Georgia Mountains Regional Development Commission wished to establish a digital surface model of Banks, Forsyth, Franklin, and Stephens Counties.
The purpose of the project was to acquire LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) data to establish a surface Digital Elevation Model (DEM) of Banks, Forsyth, Franklin, and Stephens Counties. A 5-foot contour surface will be developed for areas within the National Forest boundary - equating to a 1"=200' mapping scale dataset. And, a 2-foot contour surface will be developed for areas outside the National Forest but within the project boundary
ground condition
Not to be used for purposes other than those strictly outlined in the 2009 Georgia Mountains Regional Development Center Orthophotography / Remote Sensing project.
Point cloud will meet the accuracy standards of the Reference Guide Outline - Specifications for Aerial Surveys and Mapping by Photogrammetric Methods for Highways
Point cloud coverage is spatially and topologically continuous for each specified county-wide area.
The data is complete for the client-specified area of the Georgia Mountains Regional Development Center
Horzontal accuracy was compared to surveyed control points and is ensured to meet the accuracy standards of the Reference Guide Outline - Specifications for Aerial Surveys and Mapping by Photogrammetric Methods for Highways at the area's associated mapping scale.
The National Map Accuracy standard requires that 90% of all test points are within 1/30th of an inch at mapping scale.
Ayres Associates utilized mathematical algorithms through TerraSolid applications to filter high points (noise), low points (noise), low vegetation points (points 0.1 - 1 foot above bare earth points) , medium vegetation points (points 1.1 - 10 feet above bare earth points), high vegetation points (points 10.1+ feet above bare earth points), and water points from entire point cloud of the county of Forsyth of the Georgia Mountains Regional Development Center.
Ayres Associates prepared FGDC compliant metadata for each deliverable product.
